KUALA LUMPUR: For the 538 police trainees who graduated, the message from Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain was clear. Be an honest cop.
“I am reminding all trainees starting their career to always distance themselves from any wrongdoing and corruption.”
He advised them to carry out their duties with professionalism, dedication and honesty.
Being a man of integrity, he said, is the most important indicator in shaping the character of a police officer.
“When you are sincere, it will bring blessings in your job that will also lead to blessings in your life,” he said in his address at the graduation ceremony for police trainees at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) yesterday.
Razarudin said he had set two main focuses that must be adhered to in the police force.
“The first is that the service of the police force must be based on integrity and good governance; the second is to support government policies for the prosperity of the people,” he said.
This must be carried out totally at every level, he said, adding that a career in the police force requires everyone to sacrifice their time and energy for the safety and security of the country.
He also reminded the new graduates that their achievements so far are due to the prayers of their parents.
Razarudin commended the Pulapol commander and the lineup of trainers who “transformed” the trainees from civilians to police officers since the training started on Feb 19.
“I have no doubt this batch of trainees have benefited from the wisdom and guidance of all the trainers,” he added.
Among those who attended yesterday’s ceremony were Deputy IGP Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and other senior officers.
The event marked the conclusion of training for the 538 police trainees.
Speaking to reporters later, Razarudin said Bukit Aman is still collecting intelligence on possible threats against the country following Malaysia’s outspoken stand on the Palestine-Israel conflict.
He said the country’s safety and security are at an optimum level.
“For now, there are no direct threats (against the country). However, we are still collecting intelligence and relevant information on the matter,” he said.
