Floods: MCA's Crisis Relief Squad ready to assist

YONG PENG: The Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) is prepared to offer immediate assistance to flood victims during the ongoing northeast monsoon, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

"We have already asked our CRSM to be on standby mode and do what is necessary to prepare for the floods.

"They have serviced their boats and engines while waiting for any eventuality. If any areas are hit by floods, they will be mobilised to do the necessary work to help the people immediately," said the MCA president after handing over aid totalling RM99,000 to 14 temples and non-governmental organisation (NGOs) here.

There are more than 3,000 CRSM members nationwide trained to deal with crisis situations.

"We also have volunteers from all races who will come in to give support if there is a crisis.

"The CRSM is also one of the supporting units in the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma)," he said.
