GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow must arrange a proper succession plan to replace him as the state's leader, says Anthony Loke.
The DAP secretary-general said this is important so that the foundation of the good governance built by DAP since 2008 will be continued.
"The position of Chow as Chief Minister is guaranteed after Penang became the first state to implement the institutional reform which is to limit the chief minister position to two terms only.
"And of course, we will fulfil this promise and commitment," he said during his speech at the 2023 Penang DAP convention on Sunday (Nov 19).
Loke said Chow will continue to lead the state and, at the same time to, strengthen the state administration.
He called on all DAP members in the state to cooperate with the leadership to strengthen the party and to ensure Penang becomes the role model state in the country.
Loke also denied any “disagreement” between DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng and Chow, who is the state DAP chairman.
He also dismissed speculations about the movement to oust Chow from the chief minister post by stating Chow would continue to lead the state until the end of the term.
