Over half a million ringgit in aid handed out to 44 organisations in Yong Peng, Ayer Hitam

YONG PENG: More than half a million ringgit worth of aid has been handed over to some 44 organisations here.

"We have been giving aid to various groups including schools, temples and non-governmental-organisations every month, said MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who is also Ayer Hitam MP.

"This is part of our effort to allow organisations to be more active and organise more activities in my constituency," he said after handling over some RM99,000 in aid to 14 temples and NGOs at the Yong Peng Che Ann Khor Hall here on Sunday (Nov 19).

Also present was MCA Youth chief Ling Tian Soon, who is also Johor health and unity committee chairman and Yong Peng assemblyman.

In another event at the Ayer Hitam and Yong Peng service centre, Dr Wee handed over close to RM480,000 worth of aid to some 30 organisations.

In a statement on Facebook, Dr Wee said that recipients include representatives from schools, parent-teacher associations, government clinics, police stations and sports clubs

"It is my responsibility as Ayer Hitam MP to provide aid for various projects and purposes, including the upgrade of infrastructure, school programmes and welfare activities for the needy," he said.
