Fresh tiger tracks spotted in Gua Musang plantation

GUA MUSANG: More than 1,000 Kesedar Sejahtera Local Community Settlement Project residents live in fear of a tiger that has been suspected to be prowling the oil palm plantation area over the last few days.

Livestock breeder Mohd Nordin Hashim, 39, said he spotted the pug marks of the animal in the Chin Teck Plantation, about 200 metres from the settlement, at about 8.30 pm yesterday.

"Two days ago, residents claimed to have encountered the animal near this area. We are worried that the wild animal will attack our livestock.

"We are also concerned about the safety of the residents who sometimes enter the plantation area to search for banana leaves and release their livestock," he told reporters when met at the Chin Teck Plantation on Sunday (Nov 19).

Meanwhile, Galas assemblyman, Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim, called for efficient and swift action from the authorities. – Bernama
