KEMAMAN: True to his military background, Barisan Nasional candidate Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor soldiers on, rain or shine. The former general braved a heavy downpour to meet voters in the coffee shops and homes of Felda Kerteh, in the northern part of the Kemaman parliamentary constituency yesterday morning.

In fact, the ex-general believes that campaigning in the rain has its own advantages as he is able to meet people who are taking shelter from the inclement weather.

“We cannot stop the rain, but in certain places where people gather to seek shelter, it becomes an advantage,” he said at another campaign stop in Kampung Chabang, also in Kerteh, where he met Barisan campaign workers.

“I do not waste time. I covered as many areas and met as many voters as possible from early this morning,” Raja Mohamed Affandi said, Bernama reported.

It is only the second day of campaigning for the Kemaman parliamentary by-election and Raja Mohamed Affandi will need that gutsiness as the Meteorological Department has forecast continuous rain for Terengganu for the next two days.

He said he was also impressed with the enthusiasm of Barisan’s campaign workers and their allies from Pakatan Harapan.

In GE15, Perikatan’s candidate Che Alias Hamid won Kemaman by a 27,000-vote majority.

The constituency has 141,790 eligible voters, including 387 police personnel, nine army personnel and 12 overseas voters.
