Hajiji warns underperforming contractors in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The government will terminate the services of underperforming contractors, warned Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The Chief Minister issued the warning after being updated on the delay in the construction of the Ranau district mosque.

The State’s Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, raised the issue during the State Development Action Council meeting on Tuesday (Nov 21).

"Just terminate their contract. Why must the contractor continue to be retained when the project (in Ranau) never takes off?” said Hajiji, when chairing the meeting.

Subsequently, he said he wanted all ministries, departments, and agencies to take heed of the issues presented by the Sabah Development Office (SDO) and improve their performance.

Meanwhile, Hajiji has agreed with the proposal to form a state-federal joint committee to coordinate the implementation of federal development projects in Sabah.

He said that forming the committee under the purview of the SDO could iron out obstacles hindering the implementation or completion of federal projects.
