Bomb Hoax: International school in Penang becomes latest victim

GEORGE TOWN: Another international school here has lodged a police report on receiving a bomb threat.

This brings the count to three in the state with multiple more nationwide in the past two days.

In what seems to be a nationwide hoax, an international school in Batu Feringghi is the latest school to report receiving an email claiming there is a bomb threat.

George Town acting OCPD Supt V. Saravanan said there was another international school that received an email threat on Tuesday (Nov 21).

"They filed a police report this morning at 9.22am.

"Based on the facts, the school received the email on Tuesday morning at around 9.42am.

"The email was from an unknown individual.

"It said that there were explosives planted in the school," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 22).

Meanwhile, a religious school in Rembau, Negri Sembilan, Sekolah Tinggi Islam As-Sofa also fell victim to a bomb hoax that forced the evacuation of more than 500 students and staff on Tuesday (Nov 21).
