Johor JPJ issues nearly 10,000 summonses during three-week Ops Patuh

JOHOR BARU: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued 9,996 summonses for various traffic offences to 5,531 vehicles during the statewide "Ops Patuh" operation in Johor.

Johor JPJ director Azmil Zainal Adnan said the operation was conducted together with the Johor Police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department.

“The operation started on Nov 1 and the objective was to ensure maximum technical compliance from all vehicle users.

“We also hope to be able to address the offences made by vehicle users in terms of making modifications that could threaten their safety or risky driving acts that could harm the vehicle users themselves and other road users.

“As of Tuesday (Nov 21), we have taken action against 5,531 vehicles and issued 9,996 JPJ P(22) notices for various offences,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 22).

The department also confiscated 98 vehicles under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“Some of the most common offences we recorded were 2,382 cases of driving without a licence, 1,826 cases of driving with an expired licence, and 854 cases of vehicle modification and having a number plate that does not meet specifications.

“The driving licence-related offences make up about 27%, while offences involving vehicles stand at about 35% of the total,” he added.

Complaints on traffic offences can be channelled through e-Aduan@jpj on the MyJPJ application or by email at aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my.
