Cops probing govt officer for alleged sexual harassment

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman will call up a senior officer at a government agency in connection with a sexual harassment allegation against him.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the individual will have his statement recorded at Putrajaya police headquarters at about 2.30pm today.

“His statement will be recorded by Bukit Aman CID Special Investigation Unit. The investigation is still ongoing,” he said.

So far, only the statement of the complainant has been recorded, the IGP added.

It is learnt that a financial consultant, in her 30s, lodged a police report last week alleging that the suspect, a head of a government agency, has been harassing her via WhatsApp.

The woman had initially approached the suspect over a prospective investment opportunity in November last year before the harassment allegedly occurred.

She also alleged that the suspect had asked her to go to hotels and karaoke centres a few times but she rejected him.

She claimed that his advances became stronger from August when he sent her several indecent photos via text messaging.

A photo of the police report supposedly lodged by the woman has gone viral on social media.
