THE issues raised by people in Sabah and Sarawak during the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s Kembara Kenali Borneo tour have been compiled, says Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali (pic).
The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak and Special Functions) said these comprised 74 from Sabah and 37 from Sarawak.
“A total of 55 issues were categorised as complaints, 45 were appeals and 13 were messages of appreciation,” he said in a written reply to Vivian Wong Shir Yee (PH-Sandakan).
Wong asked whether a special committee would be formed to handle issues and complaints raised by the people of Sabah to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong during the Kembara Kenali Borneo tour.
Armizan said among the issues raised by Sabah and Sarawak residents were on water and electricity supply, healthcare, education, roads, native customary land, welfare and socio-economic and safety matters that require attention from the federal, Sabah and Sarawak governments.
“These matters are being consolidated by the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Division in the Prime Minister’s Department, together with related stakeholders.
“We will continue to monitor them to ensure the necessary measures are being taken,” Armizan said.
In September, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah embarked on an 11-day tour across Sabah and Sarawak.
The royal couple began their tour in Tawau, Sabah on Sept 3, with the last stop being at KM0 of the Pan Borneo Highway in Teluk Melano on Sept 13.
