PETALING JAYA: MyAqsa Foundation, a Malaysian foundation that advocates human rights and justice, says it has submitted evidence and testimony of Israeli war crimes to the office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands.
In a statement Thursday (Nov 23), MyAqsa said a team led by Professor Datuk Dr Rahmat Mohamad and lawyers Lukman Sheriff Alias and Azni Mohd Amin had officially lodged the petition on Tuesday (Nov 22).
They were supported by MyAqsa Foundation chairman Suwardi Yaacob and trustees Mohd Gunawan Che Ab Aziz and Datuk Abd Rasyid Idris.
"The submission was compiled by MyAqsa's team of researchers and submitted to highlight and address the alarming genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in various healthcare facilities within Gaza.
"The focus of our submission encompasses the deplorable attacks and bombardments inflicted upon essential medical institutions, namely al-Shifa Hospital, al-Quds Hospital, Indonesia Hospital and the al-Ahl Hospital, all situated in Gaza," the statement added.
MyAqsa added that the collection of evidence would not have been possible without the assistance of the Palestinian Government.
"We implore the initiation of a thorough investigation by the ICC based on the information and evidence provided in Articles 15 and 53 of the Rome Statute.
"There is compelling evidence for the ICC to initiate and complete its evidence," MyAqsa said.
