Bersatu AGM: Muhyiddin still our president, says Hamzah

SHAH ALAM: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s decision not to contest for the party president post next year is merely a proposal, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (pic).

The Bersatu secretary-general said the matter should not be made into an issue as the leadership only just learned about it during Muhyiddin's policy speech at the party's sixth annual general meeting (AGM) on Friday (Nov 24).

“I would like to point out that Tan Sri (Muhyiddin) just made this announcement... we have yet to make any decision (whether or not) to accept it.

“This is merely a proposal, so I don’t want to make this a big issue. All of us at the supreme council level have agreed.

“He only said he will not offer himself for the position, not (that he's) resigning.

"We have not proposed anyone for the position. He will remain our president,” he told the press at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) here.
