‘Datuk Botak’ tried to lure me away too, says Armada chief

SHAH ALAM: Bersatu MPs with no cases pending in courts or issues with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) are being approached to switch allegiance, Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal claims.

He said he himself had been approached by one “Datuk Botak”, who claimed to be a “government messenger” offering allocations for his constituency.

“These individuals approaching Bersatu MPs have been monitoring who they can approach, and making offers to MPs without court cases or cases with the LHDN,” the chief of the party’s youth wing, Armada, said.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal was speaking on the sidelines of the Armada annual assembly at the IDCC Convention Centre here yesterday.

“I was approached about a month ago, but I will never betray my voters. I was given the trust to take the seat with the PAS logo under Perikatan Nasional and to go against Umno in the general election.

“Machang voters have invested money and time to campaign for me and voted for me – how can I betray them?” he said, adding that no more Bersatu MPs were likely to shift allegiance.

In recent weeks, four Bersatu MPs – Labuan’s Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman, Gua Musang’s Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, Jeli’s Zahari Kechik and Kuala Kangsar’s Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid – had shifted their allegiance to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

However, they remained in the party and thus did not lose their seats under the anti-hopping laws.

“At this annual general meeting, we insist on reminding our members (of the bait) to hook Bersatu MPs.

“They should be aware of this as we have worked hard to win the seats. We are not few but many,” he said.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal added that he would also look into whether a complaint could be made to Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul so that those who lobby Opposition MPs to shift allegiance can be barred from the Dewan’s lobby.

Bersatu has suspended Iskandar Dzulkarnain for four years and Suhaili for six years. The other two are also facing disciplinary action.
