Selangor govt urged to save temple in Shah Alam

A PAKATAN Harapan backbencher has called on the Selangor government to save the Sri Maha Kaliamman Temple in Seksyen 18, Shah Alam, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The matter was raised during the state assembly by Sentosa assemblyman G Gunaraj.

The temple used to be located on Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) land. However, the temple started facing problems after the land ownership was transferred to a private hospital firm.

The company issued a letter to the temple in 2013 asking them to vacate the land. The court case which followed in 2019 after talks between the parties broke down resulted in the temple being surrounded on all sides by hoarding and only the priest being allowed in.

Devotees are strictly prohibited from entering and praying at the temple which they had been doing for years.
