UTeM inks strategic partnership with Chinese vocational college


MELAKA: Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) together with China's renowned TVET Higher Education Institution have entered into a strategic partnership.

The memorandum of academic agreement signing between UTeM and Heilongjiang Agricultural Economics Vocational College (HAEVC) was held online on Friday (Nov 24).

UTeM was represented by its vice chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Massila Kamalrudin while HAEVC was represented by Prof Yan Haimin.

Dr Massila said UTeM and HAEVC agreed to jointly develop and offer a Diploma in Technology Management and e-commerce programs as part of the collaboration.

She said this program was in line with UTeM's high-level TVET empowerment agenda by moving in tandem with HAEVC, which is one of the best higher educational institutions in China.

"HAEVC is also the top institution in offering e-commerce programs at the diploma level which is ranked among the top 10 vocational colleges in China.

"This cooperation also strengthens the close relationship between Malaysia and China as well as cultivating skilled professionals in developing countries," she said.

Prof Massila said the move to tie up with HAEVC also strengthened international strategic cooperation with industrial giants in China such as Alibaba Education and Technology Co. Ltd, especially in the scope related to e-commerce.
