Bersatu AGM delegates want Muhyiddin to stay on

SHAH ALAM: Bersatu delegates nationwide have passed a motion to reject Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's decision not to defend his president post in the next party polls.

The Bersatu AGM permanent chairman Datuk Suhaimi Abdullah, said that this was the party's decision.

He said this on the last day of Bersatu’s 6th AGM at Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) Shah Alam on Saturday (Nov 25).

"The delegates have agreed to pass the motion to reject the president's proposal not to defend his post in the next party polls in 2024.

"The delegates decided this because the party still needs Muhyiddin's leadership.

"We hope that Muhyiddin and his wife will listen to the pleas of the grassroots'" said Suhaimi.

The motion was mooted after Muhyiddin announced on Friday that he would not be defending the presidential post in the next party polls as there are enough leaders to succeed him.

The Bersatu AGM delegates' decision follows Friday's unanimous decision by the Bersatu supreme council that Muhyiddin must remain during next year's polls and defend his position.
