PUTRAJAYA: The ideals that Angkatan Muda Keadilan (PKR Youth) has been championing must evolve from mere vocal expressions and demands to actionable initiatives now that the youth wing is an integral part of the current administration, says Adam Adli Abd Halim.

The PKR Youth chief said members need to realise that the situation has changed and that they must adapt to new realities collectively.

"With the role and responsibilities entrusted to us now, regardless of whether we are in office or not, we must transition from being mere proposers to implementers.

"As members of PKR Youth, we must be ready to shoulder heavy and challenging responsibilities.

"Having worked hard to achieve victory, it is now time for us to contribute to sustaining that victory," he said in his keynote address at the PKR Youth Congress 2023 at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on Saturday (Nov 25).

As a key supporter of the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the PKR president, Adam Adli said it is the duty of the youth wing to serve as the eyes and ears that connect with the voices of youths in the country.

He urged PLKR Youth members to take the opportunity that they have as council members, elected representatives, and government officials at various levels to channel the voices of youths into effective policies.

"We are being observed by the people out there. Our position as the youth wing that is part of the ruling administration does not mean that we have the final say on what we want,'" he said.

Adam Adli, who is also Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, reminded the delegates to be agents that disseminate the party's idealistic values among party members.

As such, he said PKR Youth would organise training and leadership development programmes, including the Justice Debate Club, Training of Trainers and Youth Wing School that involve the wing's leadership at all levels.

These initiatives will be consolidated under a new entity known as Akademi Keadilan Rakyat - AKAR - launched at the congress to prepare future leaders of PKR Youth with clear ideals aligned with the party's principles of justice for all.

Meanwhile, Adam Adli said he was confident that Malaysians stood firmly behind Anwar's leadership in advocating for the Palestinian cause, adding that the prime minister’s determination in the matter is unwavering, despite attempts by a misguided few to silence it. - Bernama
