Over RM380,000 allocated for development of Panti, Johor Orang Asli village, assembly told

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A total of RM384,363 has been allocated for the development of Johor’s Orang Asli community in Panti, Kota Tinggi.

State agriculture, agro-based industry, and rural committee chairman Datuk Zahari Sarip said this includes a mentorship programme that organises sharing sessions among Orang Asli villages (KOA).

“The Johor Orang Asli Community Development 2023 involves three KOA in Panti; KOA Kempas Menang, KOA Pasir Intan, and KOA Sayong Pinang.

“We hope that this programme will lay the foundation for creating KOA that can be independent and proactive in bringing in development and open to exploring more potential to improve their livelihood,” he told the state assembly on Sunday (Nov 26).

He said this in reply to Hahasrin Hashim (BN-Panti), who asked what development has been done by the government for the KOA in Panti.

Zahari also said that the state government has also allocated RM1.4mil for the development of infrastructure and amenities in Bekok, Segamat, besides clean water supply and roadworks improvement.

“The projects involve six KOAs; KOA Kudung, KOA Sri Tembayan, KOA Tamok, KOA Lenek, KOA Kemidak, and KOA Selai,” he said.
