Bukit Aman to reset date for Abdul Wahab to give statement

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman will arrange with the lawyer for Community Communications Department (J-Kom) assistant officer Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani to determine the day his statement will be recorded, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain (pic).

The Inspector-General of Police said Abdul Wahab was an important witness to assist with the investigation in connection with the viral video of an indecent conversation, which implicated former J-Kom director-general Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff.

“We are aware of Abdul Wahab’s current health condition.

“We are now arranging with his lawyer (to set a date to record his statement),” he said when contacted yesterday.

Abdul Wahab’s lawyer earlier revealed that his client had slipped into depression.

Lawyer Faizal Rahman said this had resulted in his client having to reschedule his appointment with the police.

On Sunday, police were supposed to record Abdul Wahab’s statement but the appointment was cancelled as he suffered severe depression.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said only Abdul Wahab could confirm the identity and role of “Mr H” in connection with the viral video.

He said while police had already recorded the statement of the man, believed to be “Mr H”, his identity could not be verified until Abdul Wahab comes forward.

“If Abdul Wahab can identify him and reveal his role in the incident, then we can positively identify ‘Mr H’.

“For now, we only know who ‘Mr H’ is based on Mohammad Agus’ statement,” Mohd Shuhaily said.

According to reports, police recorded a statement from “Mr H” on Nov 23.

The case came to light following a viral video of a man, bearing a striking resemblance to Mohammad Agus, having an indecent conversation with another person named “Wahab”.

Following this, Mohammad Agus lodged a police report at the Kajang police headquarters on Nov 17.

In a press conference on the same day, Mohammad Agus described the viral video as an “internal conspiracy to sabotage his career and reputation”.

Also present at the press conference was Abdul Wahab, who claimed the video was created by an individual who he identified as “Mr H” and that the person behind it wanted to sabotage Mohammad Agus.
