KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Assurance celebrated and recognised 1,058 of its top leaders and agents at its Annual Awards Presentation (AAP) 2023 for their outstanding achievement and contribution in the last financial year.

Held at the Genting International Convention Centre, the event themed, A Tribute to Excellence, aptly described each and every awardee who went on stage to receive the highest honour in their respective categories from Hong Leong Assurance group managing director and chief executive officer Loh Guat Lan and chief distribution officer Koh Hoe Shin.

“This year, our celebration is even more special and exciting as it coincides with our 50th anniversary. Fifty years is a significant milestone. It is half a century of performance excellence as a true Malaysian life insurer at heart,” Loh shared.

“We have indeed come a long way, with many ups and downs along our journey, but one thing we are immensely proud of is at every step of the way, our agents have always remained a trusted and dedicated partner to our customers,” she highlighted.

Among the coveted winners was May Lee, who took home the Champion Agency Manager award for an outstanding 16th consecutive year, and the Top of the Table (TOT) title for an amazing 21 times, making her the only agency leader in Malaysia to achieve this stature.

Joining her were other agency toppers, namely Champion Unit Manager Jessie Wong, Champion Agent Sylvia Lee Yee Lii, Champion Master Builder Award Sam Wang Chok Guan, and Champion Bumiputera Agent Shareezuan Sukiman.

Besides that, Hong Leong Assurance concluded last year with 320 Million Dollars Round Table (MDRT) achievers, with 8 Top of the Table (TOT) and 23 Court of the Table (COT) qualifiers. Its Multi-Million (MMM) Club also showed much promise with 107 agencies and 17 life advisors reaching the mark.

Expressing her appreciation to the achievers, Loh said, “This success is not by chance. It is the result of years of hard work, as well as a clear and coherent strategy in pursuit of excellence.

“The winners tonight have continuously walked the extra mile to secure customers’ well-being, keep their family and finances protected, and provide top-notch service at the most vulnerable moments, while maintaining the highest ethical standards.

“Each one of them has contributed their finest attributes to uphold Hong Leong Assurance as the leading and largest domestic life insurer in the country today. Now, with our sights set on the next 50 years, we will continue the journey to success with an even stronger ambition,” she added.

For the financial year 2022/2023, Hong Leong Assurance achieved a solid performance of RM3.1bil in total gross premium.

The insurer attained significant milestones by bagging the Insurtech – Life Insurance Category award by Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2023, and emerging the only life insurance company to be awarded Domestic Life Insurer of the Year - Malaysia by Asian Banking and Finance Insurance Asia Awards for seven consecutive times since 2016, Best Life Insurance Company – Malaysia by International Finance Awards for five times between 2017-2019 and 2021-2022.
