Mother killed while father, baby seriously injured in car crash in Machang

MACHANG: A woman was killed, while her husband and baby boy were seriously injured in a car crash near the junction of Masjid Nurul Abidin Pangkal Canggong Mosque here at 4.20pm on Monday (Nov 27).

Machang district police chief Supt Mohd Adli Mat Daud said that the woman, 21, was driving from her house in Kampung Mengketil with her husband, 20, and her eight-month old baby boy heading to Machang when the crash occurred.

"The victim, who was driving a Perodua Kancil, lost control and skidded across the opposite land and hit the concrete divider at the side of the road, causing her to be thrown to the back seat, while the husband and child were caught in the middle area between the driver seat and left passenger seat," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 28), adding that firefighters managed to free all three victims.

"The woman was confirmed dead at the scene, while the husband and baby, both who sustained serious injuries, were taken to the Machang Hospital for further treatment,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - Bernama
