Penang allocates over RM700,000 for Islamic propagation in 2024


GEORGE TOWN: The state government allocated RM718,250 for the Islamic propagation programme in 2024.

Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid said several state official programmes have been lined up for next year.

"Among the programme are Majlis Tilawah Al-Quran, Al-Quran Reciting Programme, Nasyid Festival, Maal Hijrah and Maulidur Rasul celebration," he said during his winding-up speech on Thursday (Nov 30).

The state national unity and Islamic development committee chairman said RM762,550 had been allocated under the Islamic affairs committee for implementing programs related to Islamic affairs.

He said this year, the state government, through the Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department, has also organised Islamic propagation programmes in collaboration with relevant NGOs.

The NGOs involved were the Islamic Propagation Society International, Jaringan Mualaf Malaysia, Gabungan Dakwah Malaysia, Hidayah Centre Foundation, and Pertubuhan Sinar Mutiara.

He said the state government will continue with the collaboration next year.
