JOHOR BARU: Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCare) has channelled RM3.6mil in emergency aid to the Palestinians in Gaza since the conflict broke out on Oct 7.
Johor MyCare manager Rozi Abdul Ghani said the aid comprised four phases in which essentials such as clothing, food and medicine were distributed.
He said that of the total amount, more than RM700,000 was through the Johor MyCare Palestine Fund.
"This aid and donation will continue until Palestine recovers, as Gaza has suffered severe destruction.
"The fifth phase of aid will be distributed this month, but it depends on the current situation in Gaza,” he told reporters when met at the Gaza Charity Sales, organised by Johor Media Club (KMJ), Econsave and MyCare, at Econsave Taman Teratai.
Also present were Econsave Cash & Carry Sdn Bhd general manager Mas Imran Adam and KMJ president Mohamad Fauzi Ishak.
Meanwhile, Mas Imran said that Econsave aims to raise RM500,000 by the end of this month through the Palestine Emergency Fund, in collaboration with Johor MyCare, which was launched on Oct 14.
He said that a total of RM200,000 had been raised so far, through contributions from Malaysians at 94 Econsave branches nationwide.
"Econsave will donate RM100,000 for the people in Palestine, including in the form of dry food, mineral water and diapers, which will be brought in via the Rafah border,” he said.
Earlier, Mohamad Fauzi said that KMJ has donated RM5,000, and plans to turn the Gaza Charity Sale into an annual event. - Bernama
