Boy and men plead guilty to rioting


SUNGAI PETANI: Five men and an underage teenager have pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here to rioting and causing injury to a man last month.

Muhammad Sharizal Ngazawan, 42, Mohd Nawawi Azmi, 35, Muhammad Sufyan Johan Panggi, 25, Mohamad Muhaimin Mahmud, 33, Zulkupli Mohamed, 33, and the 16-year-old boy made the plea before magistrate Noor Fazlina Musa.

The court fixed Jan 7 for the sentencing. They can be jailed for up to two years, fined or both.

All the accused had gathered outside a hotel and injured a man at 1pm on Nov 27.

The men were given RM2,000 bail while the boy was given RM1,500 bail in one surety.

News reports said the six were arrested for rioting – this came after one of them allegedly had an affair with the wife of another man. – Bernama
