Cement truck operator killed during accident in Tawau


KOTA KINABALU: A 59-year-old cement mixer truck operator was killed during a mishap in Tawau district on Tuesday (Dec 5).

The report came in at 3.59pm informing that the victim was pinned inside the vehicle after he lost control of the truck and caused it to overturn at an area in Kampung Serudung Baru, Jalan Lucia there.

A team from Tawau’s Fire and Rescue Department managed to remove the victim from the vehicle with the assistance of a 22-tonne towing lorry, where he was pronounced dead on site by the medical officer.

“The body was handed over to the police for further action.

“After ensuring there are no more other risks, the operation ended at 6.37pm,” said the Department spokesman.
