Filipino teen accuses M'sian stepfather of rape in JB

JOHOR BARU: A teenage girl has claimed that she was raped by her stepfather at Bukit Horizon in Iskandar Puteri here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin said the 18-year-old, who is from the Philippines, lodged a police report on Dec 4.

“She claimed that the incident took place while she was staying with her stepfather. She moved out of the house after the alleged incident.

“On the same day, we arrested her 54-year-old stepfather, who is a local,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 5), adding that the suspect had no criminal record and tested negative for drugs.

During the interrogation, the suspect denied raping the girl, ACP Rahmat added.

He said that police also took the statements of five witnesses so far, including a Hospital Sultanah Aminah doctor who performed a medical check up on the victim.

“The stepfather was released on police bail after some of the statements given by the witnesses and victim had contradictions,” he said, adding that investigations are ongoing under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code for rape.
