Pedestrian in Jempol dies of injuries sustained after motorcycle crashed into her


JEMPOL: A 66-year-old pedestrian was killed from injuries sustained after a motorcyclist crashed into her along Jalan Serting Hilir 1 near here.

Jempol OCPD Supt Hoo Chang Hook said the woman died at her home about 17 hours after the accident.

He said the accident took place at about 6.50am on Monday (Dec 4).

"The 22-year-old motorcyclist was heading to work at Felda Tembagau when he crashed into the victim. He claimed that he could not avoid hitting the victim as she suddenly appeared in front of him," he said in a statement.

The victim suffered serious injuries including a broken right leg and was also bleeding from the head.

Supt Hoo said the victim was then taken to the Kuala Pilah Hospital.

"However, after treatment, her next-of-kin decided to take the victim home," he said.

She died about 12.45am Tuesday (Dec 5).

Supt Hoo urged eyewitnesses to contact investigating officer Muhammad Fasha Haiqal Mohd Faisal at 016-362 7746 to assist in the probe.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
