Let's move forward in unison, Onn Hafiz urges Johor Umno


JOHOR BARU: Newly-appointed Johor Umno chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has called upon the party's leadership and members to move as one team.

The Simpang Renggam division chief and Mentri Besar thanked party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for appointing him and entrusting him to lead Umno in the state.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank (outgoing state party chairman) Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin for his commitment, aid and cooperation in his leadership in Johor Umno.

“I also request that the leadership and members of Johor Umno work together as a team in our struggle for religion, race and country,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Dec 7).

Earlier, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said Onn Hafiz had been appointed state Umno chief with immediate effect.

He also announced that Datuk Rozi Mamat had been appointed Terengganu Umno chief with immediate effect.

In a Facebook post, Asyraf Wajdi thanked the outgoing state Umno chiefs, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said in Terengganu and Mohamad Khaled in Johor.

"Heartiest congratulations to Rozi and Onn Hafiz.

"I would also like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Ahmad and Mohamad Khaled on behalf of the Umno family.

"May we continue efforts to strengthen and empower Umno," he said in his post.
