Police seized over 130,000 litres of subsidised diesel in raid


PETALING JAYA: More than 130,000 litres of subsidised diesel were found after a police raid busted a smuggling syndicate in Port Klang.

Bukit Aman’s Internal Security and Public Order Department director Comm Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali said that the raid was conducted on Dec 6 at Port Klang and six foreigners were arrested.

“A ship was also seized, leading to the discovery of 138,982 litres of subsidised diesel, together with an oil pump and hose,” he said in a statement on Friday (Dec 8).

Police estimate the value of the seized diesel and ship at around RM14,300,000.

In a related issue, Comm Hazani said that the department had conducted 66 operations on groups smuggling subsidised goods, including diesel, between Jan 1 and Dec 8.

Around 240 people were arrested in that time frame, with seizures amounting to RM73,804,831.50.
