JOHOR BARU: The Johor government has declared Sunday (Dec 17) a special holiday to celebrate Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) excellent performance in the Malaysia Super League.

Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani said Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar decreed this following JDT's clinching of the Malaysia Super League for the tenth consecutive time.

"To celebrate JDT's historic achievement, an event will be held at 8.30pm on Saturday (Dec 16) at Stadium Sultan Ibrahim after a match against Penang FC.

"As such, Johor Sultan has decreed that Sunday (Dec 17) is a special holiday for all Johoreans," he said in a statement.

He added that the special holiday was also a way for the state government to show its appreciation to Johoreans who have been supporting JDT.

He also noted that the declaration of the holiday was in line with the provision of powers conferred under Section 9(1) of the Public Holidays Act.
