More Perikatan MPs to support PM soon, claims Bukit Gantang MP

PETALING JAYA: More Perikatan Nasional lawmakers will shift their support towards Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, claims Bukit Gantang MP Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal.

The Bersatu lawmaker was quoted by Sinar Harian as saying that there were seven to eight more MPs from the Opposition bloc who would declare support for Anwar soon.

On Nov 28, Syed Abu Hussin became the fifth and latest MP from Bersatu to “switch” allegiance to the government to date.

Prior to this, four Bersatu MPs shifted their support to Anwar's leadership.

They are Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang) and Zahari Kechik (Jeli).

Meanwhile, asked if Bersatu had taken any action against him, Syed Abu Hussin said no.

He said none of the Bersatu or Perikatan leaders have met him to seek an explanation on his support for Anwar.

However, he said his contact number has been removed from the Perikatan Whatsapp group.

“First of all, I did not violate party rules. In Bersatu’s constitution, it does not prohibit anyone from giving support (to the prime minister).

“If the party wants to take action, it needs to be taken to the disciplinary committee, which will decide what form of action can be taken. I’m ready,” he was quoted as saying.
