Suspected drug trafficker who gave cops the slip two weeks ago nabbed in Arau


KANGAR: Police have apprehended a man who evaded arrest on Nov 27 after he ditched a car he was driving which contained drugs worth an estimated RM25,000 in Pauh, Arau.

Arau district police chief Supt Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi said the 42-year-old male suspect was arrested in a house at Batu 17, Kampung Padang Limau, Mukim Tunjang near Jitra at 10.30pm on Saturday (Dec 9).

He said previously, the male suspect and another man did not comply with police instructions to stop the car they were in for an inspection, resulting in a pursuit.

"The suspect stopped the car on Lorong Tenku Budriah 6 (in Pauh) and the two men escaped into some bushes.

"Police subsequently found four packets of syabu weighing 199.8g and three packets of heroin weighing 889.1g in the car," he said.

He added that checks revealed that the suspect was linked to 10 previous drug offences stretching back to 1999.

Supt Ahmad Mohsin added that the man tested positive for drugs and has been remanded for seven days from Tuesday (Dec 10) to facilitate investigations under Section 39B and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama
