KOTA KINABALU: The body of a man missing for two days has been found in the Liwagu River in Sabah's hilly Ranau district, about 120km from here.

Rescue workers found the body of Fred Yassin, 42, in the river at about 11.30am on Wednesday (Dec 13).

"The body was found some 300m from the location he was last seen," said a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, adding that the victim was reported missing at Kampung Kimolohing on Monday (Dec 11).

"According to the report, the victim went to an orchard with other family members on Monday. "His family members used a bridge to cross the river but the man decided to take another route that took him under the bridge.

"The victim was last seen by his relatives at about 1.30pm when he crossed the river," the spokesman said.

The body has been handed over to the police for the next course of action, he said, adding that the operation ended at 1pm.
