Zahid to BN in Cabinet: Foster effective collaboration to strengthen unity govt

PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional representatives must foster effective collaboration and better mutual understanding with their peers in Cabinet to strengthen the unity government, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Barisan chairman urged its members in the Cabinet to carry out their responsibilities with total dedication and to always protect the image of Barisan.

"Together, let's champion issues related to the people's interests. May all Barisan Cabinet members play their role appropriately to strengthen the unity government and empower the Malaysia Madani agenda," he added.

The Deputy Prime Minister said this when meeting with Barisan ministers and deputy ministers before the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (Dec 13).

"I hope all who have been given the responsibility form effective collaboration, mutual understanding and good cooperation with other Cabinet members to explain policies and strategies in order to achieve national development," he later said in a Facebook post.

The Cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday (Dec 12) saw Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appointed Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani as the Plantation and Commodities Minister, among other new appointments, apart from switching the roles of over a dozen ministers and deputy ministers.

Following this, there are currently 12 Umno MPs in the cabinet line-up, including seven ministers and five deputy ministers.
