Firework display to usher in 2024 in Sibu

SIBU: A 10-minute fireworks display will light up the sky at the town square here to usher in the New Year on December 31.

"Our highlight for the New Year countdown is a 10-minute fireworks display. We are expecting 30,000 people to turn up for this event," said organising chairman Rory Wong at a press conference on Thursday (Dec 14).

The Sibu municipal councillor added that the crowd will also be entertained by a song-and-dance programme featuring local artistes, as the celebrations will start at 7.30pm and run until 12.30am on Jan 1.

Menoah Hudson, Joe Ashley, Janet Ling Sing Jing, T-ga Band, The Sibu Busker, Klunan Magat, Little Apple, Amazing X, and The Powertive will be some of the artistes performing.

"There will also be a diverse array of food and beverage stalls and food trucks,” said Wong.

Wong urged the public to avoid illegal parking, as stringent action will be enforced to maintain order and safety, adding that visitors should also avoid littering at the town square.
