Police yet to record statement from school bullying victim

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have yet to record a statement from the 14-year-old male student who ran away from his secondary school dormitory here after being allegedly bullied.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said they would wait for the student to be discharged from hospital in order to speak with him.

"Once he comes out of the hospital, we will take his statement. Only then can we determine if there are elements of abuse or such," he told reporters after attending the City police Deepavali celebration here on Thursday (Dec 14).

He said the police would need to take his statement before the next course of action is carried out.

It was reported that the student’s mother, Shuhada Jamaludin, 38, said her son was still being treated for trauma at the Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital in Cheras.

She said that he might need a little more time to be physically and emotionally stable before lodging a police report.

She said she went to the police station to lodge a report but was advised by the police to wait till he has completely recovered.

The boy was found in a weak state in front of Saidina Othman Mosque in Bandar Tun Razak here on Dec 7 after being reported missing from his school.
