Simpang Pulai to be location of non-radioactive rare earth elements lab, says Perak MB

IPOH: Simpang Pulai will be the location of a non-radioactive rare earth elements (NR-REE) laboratory, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

The Perak Mentri Besar said the state is currently waiting for approval from the Natural Resources and Sustainability Ministry.

“The laboratory will be the first in the country, and will be used for sampling tests. We hope the ministry will give the approval soon. Right now the sampling tests are being done in China,” he said.

Saarani told reporters this after attending the Perak Economic Outlook at the state secretariat building on Thursday (Dec 14).

This comes after saying in October that the laboratory will be a collaboration between three state agencies; Menteri Besar Incorporated, Perak's State Agriculture Development Corporation and the State Economic Development Corporation.
