Suspect kills parents for refusing to give him money, says KL police chief

KUALA LUMPUR: The 42-year-old man who allegedly murdered his parents at Kampung Sungai Penchala did so because they refused to give him money.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said that this is believed to be the motive behind the double murder.

"Our investigations revealed that the suspect asked his parents for money but they refused. We believe this sparked the stabbings," he said, adding that police have taken statements from 12 people to help with investigations.

He said the 12 included family members, neighbours and other witnesses.

"We will refer the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor this week," he told reporters after attending the City police Deepavali celebration here on Thursday (Dec 14).

It was reported that the suspect who was detained for allegedly murdering his parents at Kampung Sungai Penchala tested positive for three types of drugs.

The suspect tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine and morphine.

In the incident, the police were alerted after neighbours heard an altercation at the victims' home.

Police personnel dispatched to the scene found the married couple aged 72 and 82 lying in a pool of blood in the living room, and the victims had multiple stab wounds while the suspect had fled the scene.

With the help of villagers, police managed to apprehend the suspect at the Penchala Link tunnel some 100m from the house at about 10.30pm on Saturday (Dec 9).
