Woman dies in car crash involving tanker lorry in Sandakan

KOTA KINABALU: A woman was killed after the four-wheel drive vehicle she was travelling in collided head-on with a tanker lorry in Sandakan district on Friday (Dec 15).

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the victim was identified as Same Hebo, in her 50s.

The spokesman said the incident occurred at Mile 18 Jalan Sandakan at about 9am.

“Our men managed to free the woman, who was initially trapped inside her 4WD following the mishap,” he said when contacted.

“Paramedics from the Health Ministry confirmed the victim had died at the scene.

“The body was later handed over to the police for the next course of action,” he added.

The spokesman said the lorry driver, 40, was unhurt, and the operation ended at 10.26am.
