THE bodies of two Orang Asli women from the interior of Ulu Jelai in Lipis, Pahang, could not be sent home for burial by family members due to the lack of vehicles from the authorities.

Amri Bah Jong, the husband of the late Erra Fazira Hamzah, said there was no vehicle to send his wife’s body back to their house, located 70km away in Kampung Sinderut.

“I have no money left for car rental as I have been sitting here for the past three days since my wife fell sick and passed away early this morning (Wednesday).

“They have allowed me to take my wife’s body home but there is no vehicle for the transportation to Kampung Sinderut,” he told Berita Harian.

Rosnan Bah Ding, 44, also suffered the same fate with no vehicle to bring the body of his wife, Wak Sai Bah Ema, 48, back to her hometown, some 86km or five hours from Kuala Lipis.

“My wife received treatment after being infected with Covid-19 and died on Dec 11. The hospital allowed the body to be brought home but the problem is that I don’t have a vehicle.

“I asked for help from other parties after contacting the authorities but they did not answer my calls,” he said.

Rosnan too said he has no money as he was with his late wife who was being treated until she passed away.
