KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has instructed that the investigation into an accident that killed a 17-year-old student in Ipoh and involved a senior police officer, be conducted transparently and thoroughly.
The Inspector-General of Police said the same instruction has also been issued to the Ipoh OCPD and Bukit Aman's Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director.

Razarudin also gave his assurance that the investigation will be conducted fairly following the accident involving a Deputy Superintendent from Kedah police headquarters.
"So far, we have recorded the statements of seven witnesses, including school students, who were at the accident scene and saw it happen.
"The police officer involved has also been detained and will be brought to court for remand purposes," he said when contacted Saturday (Dec 16).

The case is classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he said.
"I also urge any party who saw the accident and has relevant information to contact the police to assist the investigation.
"Again, I assure everyone that the investigation will be conducted transparently and fairly despite involving a senior police officer," he said.

It was reported that a senior police officer has been arrested in connection with an accident where a 17-year-old pupil was killed in Meru here.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan had said the accident occurred on Jalan Taman Jati here at 12.40pm on Friday (Dec 15).
"Based on our investigations, the victim was riding a motorcycle while the 44-year-old officer was driving a car," he said in a statement Friday (Dec 15), adding that the student died at the scene while the policeman was unharmed.
ACP Yahaya said the post-mortem examination revealed that the victim had chest and abdominal injuries.
