Senior cop remanded three days over fatal accident involving 17-year-old boy


IPOH: The senior police officer who is believed to be involved in an accident that caused the death of a 17-year-old student in Taman Jati, Meru Raya, has been remanded for three days.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Court judge Farah Nabihah Muhammad Dan at the district police station here on Saturday (Dec 16).

The remand will start on Saturday and end on Monday (Dec 18).

The senior police officer stationed at the Kedah state contingent headquarters was arrested on Friday (Dec 15).

He is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving causing death and Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

On Friday, the victim, a Form Five student from SMK Jati identified as Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie, died after the motorcycle he was riding was rammed by a car at about 12.40pm.
