MELAKA: Hotels here celebrate the true essence of multiculturalism by unveiling Christmas decorations and organising charity events, says the Malaysian Hotel Association of Hotels (MAH).
MAH's Melaka chapter chairman Khairulnizam Kasim said hotels here continued the Yuletide tradition which could be felt throughout this month.
"This is a testimony that we locals accept the festive seasons of all races as part of our celebration and hotels have set a tone to usher the Christmas as part of Melaka's culture," he said in an interview here on Sunday (Dec 17).
Khairulnizam said various charity events had also been lined up by hoteliers to add to the festive mood.
He said hoteliers invited deserving children for Christmas meals and have been supporting local charities for decades.
"Christmas trees, gingerbread house decorations and the giant Yuletide bear at Hatten Hotel are also attractions for tourists coming to the state for school holidays," he said
Khairulnizam said the Christmas tree decoration in the Courtyard by Marriot's lobby this year is considered spectacular and attracts visitors to take pictures with toy soldiers.
Ames Hotel of Ayer Keroh also organised a Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Friday(Dec 15) by inviting children from orphanage homes to witness the event and to enjoy Christmas cuisines.
Ames Hotel's general manager Jason R.Bak said the event was very meaningful and the hotel will continue with its charity deeds.
Bayou Lagoon Park Resort CEO Datuk Marco Seow said his Christmas tree decoration may not be as grand as other hotels but his team was continuing to engage with needy revellers to ensure they have a blissful celebration.
Holiday Inn Melaka's general manager K.Ramasamy Kamalingam also hosted a Christmas party for 70 underprivileged children, recently.
