Zayn Rayyan murder: Cops seeking more leads on 12th day of probe


PETALING JAYA: The police are still searching for credible leads and new evidence in connection with the murder of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the investigation at Idaman Apartment was still ongoing.

"We have not discovered any credible leads, but the investigation is still ongoing," he said when contacted on Monday (Dec 18).

The investigation entered its 12th day with a team of forensic personnel combing Block R of the apartment.

Five forensic department personnel arrived at the apartment at 12.45pm on Monday and were seen leaving the area some two hours later.

Several other police personnel were monitoring the situation at block R before leaving at about 3pm.

On Sunday (Dec 17), plain clothes officers and a dozen forensics personnel arrived in the afternoon around 3pm and were seen exiting roughly two hours later.

It is known that the authorities were investigating an empty unit on the top floor of the block.

On Friday (Dec 15), two child witnesses were brought to Block R to assist a police re-enactment.

They are believed to be the last two people to see Zayn Rayyan alive.

Zayn Rayyan, an autistic six-year-old boy was reported missing on Dec 5 in Damansara Damai.

His body was found in a stream about 200m from his residence at Idaman Apartment the next day.

Police classified the case as murder after a post-mortem examination of the body.
