Body of missing man found on Sungai Kedah sandbar


ALOR SETAR: The body of an elderly man who was reported missing on Monday (Dec 18) was found on a sandbar of Sungai Kedah in the Ampang Jajar area near here on Tuesday (Dec 19).

Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir said the next of kin identified the victim as the 62-year-old missing man.

“At 9am, Kota Setar police who were scouring Sungai Kedah in the Ampang Jajar area found a body on a sandbar in the river near Restoran Ampang

Bay,” he said in a statement.

He said the man was fully clothed but did not have any identification papers.

“The body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital here for a post-mortem and the case has been classified as Sudden Death,” he said.- Bernama
