“Please wear a face mask while attending to business as a precaution against rising Covid-19 cases,” the notice posted on the department’s Facebook page read.

Separately, in another post, the department said the UTC Kedah office had been closed temporarily for sanitation work.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad had previously advised those who were symptomatic and in crowded places to wear a mask.

He said the government does not intend to reinstate restrictions such as the movement control order at present, despite the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in Malaysia.

The situation was still under control, and healthcare facilities were not burdened, as a result of the ministry strengthening the Covid-19 Management Plan, which outlines five main strategies, he said.

Meanwhile, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said wearing face masks on public transport was not compulsory for now but encouraged following the recent spike in cases.
