MMA lauds ministry’s decisive action on managing surge

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has provided a comprehensive strategy to manage Covid-19 and a clear direction on managing the surge going forward, says the Malaysian Medical Association.

MMA president Dr Azizan Abdul Aziz said the ministry’s decisive action is the assurance Malaysians need, following much worry among the public concerning the surge in Covid-19 cases over the past two weeks.

“The statement given today by the ministry will serve as a ‘refresher’ on the 3S, 3W and TRIIS which are effective preventive practices we learned during the pandemic,” she said.

Dr Azizan also reminded the public that for the strategy to work, each and everyone has to do their part.

“Going forward, we also urge the ministry to communicate its strategy over multiple platforms to ensure the public is well informed,” she said.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad announced yesterday that Malaysia is not considering to reactivate its movement control order (MCO) despite a sharp increase in Covid-19 cases nationwide.

He said the country would not reinstate procedures taken during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, which began in March 2020.

He also said the Health Ministry had prepared a five-point strategy to deal with the recent increase in Covid-19 cases in the country.
