CCTV helped greatly in assisting crime-busting efforts, says KL's top cop

KUALA LUMPUR: Closed circuit television (CCTV) in the city has assisted in police crime-busting efforts, says Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid.

The Kuala Lumpur police chief said the CCTV had indirectly contributed to a drop of 10% in the crime index between January and November compared to the same period last year.

"KL CID has reached almost 70% prosecution rate so far this year.

"The department also managed to complete 91.52% of their investigation papers during the same period," he told a press conference after attending the KL police monthly assembly on Wednesday (Dec 20).

Comm Allaudeen said the crime rate in the city is still under control.

"The fear of crime in KL also saw a decline.

"The CID can reach the 70% prosecution rate by the end of this year," he added.
