PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (pic) has hit back at Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang, saying that he will not cave in to his call for an apology.
The DAP veteran had said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 19) that Takiyuddin should apologise for labelling his statement as "poisonous propaganda".
Lim had previously said that the Federal Constitution provides that any Malaysian can be prime minister.
When asked if he would apologise to Lim, Takiyuddin replied with a "no."
"Lim (should) re-read my two previous statements written in Malay in full and not rely on media reports. His understanding of them is quite poor and off the mark," he said.
Lim had also said that Takiyuddin "added oil to fire" when he described Federal Territories DAP chairman Tan Kok Wai's proposal to restore local government elections as a "toxic narrative".
He also said that the Kota Baru MP should be referred to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee for violating his oath as an MP to "preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution.
